(Photo : Twitter ) Kris and Luhan will perform at the China CCTV's New Year's Gala on February 18th.
Former EXO members Kris and Luhan will stand on stage together and sing classic Chinese songs to celebrate the lunar new year holiday.

On February 2nd, CCTV posted the artist lineup for the New Year's event on their official Weibo account, including the addition of former K-pop singers Luhan and Kris.
The post also asked fans to make suggestions for which songs they would like the popular singers to perform. Luhan and Kris will be singing covers of popular Chinese songs for the event. They will mix it up and sing both classic and modern songs to make the night memorable for both the older and younger people who attend the event.
The program director revealed, "It is a safe option for rookies to sing old songs on a New Year’s show, so we have chosen a few nice, suitable songs with youthful vibes for them."
Other Chinese singers will ring in the New Year alongside the former EXO members including David Tao, Karen Mok, Andy Lau, and Na Ying.
CCTV's New Year's Gala is scheduled to kick off on February 18th at 8PM local China time and 9PM KST.
While Luhan and Kris are actively pursuing careers in China, both musically and as actors, the two are still trying to resolve their contract termination lawsuits in South Korea with SM Entertainment after several rounds of mediation.

K-pop is popular all over the world, but Japan is really the place where K-pop idols have to succeed if they want to be successful. With the second largest music industry in the world after the United States, Japan is a goldmine of income for K-pop stars, especially K-pop acts that go unnoticed in Korea's relatively small but oversaturated music industry. Many of the most popular Korean acts are popular in Japan, but there are even some that have varying popularity Korea that have done well in Japan.

 The Boss
The Boss has had a lot of ups and downs. All five members debuted in rotating group Xing, then became to the Boss in March 2010 and promoted two songs. But  by March 2011, the group released its first Japanese song and ended up chart in sixth place on the Oricon Daily Chart. Since then, The Boss primarily promoted on Japanese shows, with occasional ventures to Korea. The group has released several Korean albums, but in 2012 the CEO of The Boss's company, Open World Entertainment, was arrested right before The Boss released its first official album and the album was cancelled. Because they were still signed to a Japanese agency, The Boss continued to promote in Japan.
The Boss has released twelve different albums in Japan, including two video albums and a live album. The Boss's vocal-pop appeals to Japan's audience, and most of the group's albums have charted on Oricon in the top ten. The Boss has yet to release a full Korean studio album, but has released two EPs and four singles, including the latest "Rilla Go!" in 2014. The group admitted that "Rilla Go!" is a change of style from what The Boss has released previously in a last attempt to gain attention in Korea.
SHU-I
Another group that initially debuted in Korea but after being unable to make a huge dent in the K-pop industry SHU-I went to Japan, where they proved to be more successful. SHU-I's so Japanese focused that the group no longer has a Korean website, and their YouTube page primarily posts videos with the members speaking Japanese.
SHU-I has released eleven albums, but only one Korean mini-album and one single. The group recently released a seventh single, "Mirai E" in Japan on December 3.
MYNAME
And yet a third group that went to Japan after debuting in Korea. MYNAME did pretty well, and was produced by Fly to the Sky member Hwanhee. Two of MYNAME's singles appeared in the top ten on Korea's Gaon chart, but the group proved to be much more popular in Japan. They keep flitting back and forth between Korea and Japan; MYNAME's latest album released was "Five Stars" in Japan.
Kara
The only girl group on this list is possibly the most popular Korean artist in Japan. Kara's very popular in Korea, but its popularity in Japan is almost absurd. Kara was the first Korean girl group to hold a concert at the Tokyo Dome, and has released seventeen Japanese albums and singles in comparison to the eleven that the girl group has released in Korea. Several of Kara's Japanese albums have gone platinum, two have gone double platinum, and "Super Girl" went triple platinum in 2012.
Kara's often compared to Girls' Generation when it comes to talking about Japanese success, but Kara's not been one of the top girl groups in Korea since the group spent much of its time in Japan. This changed in 2014, when Kara made a comeback with "Mamma Mia," and the newest member Youngji started gaining popularity on variety shows. Hara also recently gained her own variety show, signifying that the girl group is making a greater attempt to stay in Korea.
Apeace
Debuting previously as Double B 21 in 2010, Apeace started with 21 members (and went by A-Peace until changing the stylizing) and now has fifteen members, who are split into subgroups: Lapis5, Jade5, and Onyx5. Despite being made up entirely of Korean members, Apeace hasn't released anything in Korea since the 2011 mini-album "We Are The One" prior to changing its name from Double B 21. After the name change, Apeace promoted solely in Japan. Even though Apeace has only promoted in Japan, there have been several Korean songs on their albums. The group's song "Veil" appeared on Billboard's Japan Hot 100 chart in 2014, the first time that the group appeared on that chat.
Apeace has picked up a Japanese trend, and fans can see shows six days a week in a theater in Shibuya, Tokyo.
TVXQ
Honorable mention to TVXQ. The group has always been popular, but TVXQ has actually released more albums in Japan than in Korea. The group recently released "With" in Japan.

4minute member HyunA has ranked number 5 on Rolling Stone’s ‘10 Best Music Videos of 2014’ list.

Last year, HyunA released her solo album which included her title song, “Red.” Her song was ranked 5th on the Rolling Stone’s ‘2014 Best Music Videos 10’ and was the only Asian artist to be seen on this list.
Rolling Stones introduced HyunA’s song, “Red” and the music video and stated that it “might be just right for an American crossover.”
Rolling Stones called her hit song a “schizophrenic mess, switching from trap and hip-hop to bubbly pop and slinky Middle Eastern electro.”
HyunA’s music video was listed next to other top artists including Taylor Swift’s “Blank Space”, Beyonce’s “Pretty Hurts” and more.
After “Red” was released in Korea, it quickly made its way to the number 1 spot on music charts and became a huge hit in Korea, according to reports.
Her music video also received an overwhelming number of views and is currently over 20 million views as of today.
HyunA’s popularity in Korea is not a new thing. She has received much attention since her debut for her sexy and charismatic image. She was also chosen as one of the best K-Pop idols from various U.S. media and news.
Last March, she attended ’SXSW’ festival in Texas as Korea’s representative and received much praise for her shocking performance.
Spin magazine also chose her song, “Bubble Pop” as one of the best Pop singles as well.
On the other hand, HyunA will be performing “Red” at Beijing’s 2014 Golden Disk Awards on January 14.

1. Girls' Generation "Mr.Mr."
There has never been a music video quite like "Mr.Mr." Mired in controversy from the start, the clip's February release date was pushed back two weeks reportedly due to an accidental deletion of much of the footage the group had shot. Despite this major production setback, or maybe even because of it, Girls' Generation continued to push the limits of the medium on "Mr.Mr." And, with revered US production team The Underdogs providing the firepower, SNSD set a high water mark for music video in 2014.

2. Epik High "Born Hater" featuring B.I of iKON, Beenzino, Verbal Jint, Bobby and Mino
With a fraction of the budget of the other music videos on this list, Epik High showed that you don't need megabucks to create a clip that is tons of fun. Placing the rappers in a narrow bathroom and shooting in the vertical 9:16 aspect ratio commonly used in cell phone videos, "Born Haters" has a DIY quality that sets it apart from the parade of big budget lookalike videos that dominate the genre. In addition to a beat that pops with a satisfying Beastie Boys-like snap, each individual rapper's scene brings out their distinct personalities. Music and art enhanced by one another--just as it should be.

3. Psy "Hangover" featuring Snoop Dogg
K-pop's most recognizable international star teamed up with West Coast rap's number one playa on "Hangover," putting one final nail in the coffin of predictions he was destined to become a one-hit wonder, in the process. But far in a way the best thing about the "Hangover" video, which went on to receive 170 million YouTube views, is the way Psy and Snoop defy expectations by forgoing lowbrow or misogynist humor in favor of a heartwarming silliness that in the end serves as an homage of the eccentricities and electricity of the city of Seoul. When the beat drops out in "Hangover" and the hook swells to its dramatic build, it's tough not to want to be throwing back bottles of soju with this international odd couple.

4. Sunmi "Full Moon" featuring Lena
Former Wonder Girl Sunmi and rapper Lena embraced K-pop's gothic side in the music video for the Brave Brothers-produced "Full Moon." Though there was no shortage in 2014 of Korean music videos exploring the dark or supernatural side of life, it is both the striking art direction and the personal nature of the performances, spearheaded by a scorching Sunmi, which makes the "Full Moon" video truly something special. Whether it's the former Wonder Girl on a blood red plush couch set atop snow-covered playground or Lena strutting her stuff on the roof of the eerie abode where the recent victim of a vampire awaits his fate beneath a giant full moon (obviously), there are some moments in this video that are nothing short of transcendent.

5. Orange Caramel "Catellena"
Of all the videos to be released in South Korea in 2014, it was the After School side project Orange Caramel that made the most poignant statement about fame and the entertainment business with their innovative video clip "Catellena." With the three members of Orange Caramel portraying mermaids that are caught and sold at a fish market before being transformed into a meal on the conveyor belt of a local sushi bar. With a playful quality that makes its point without beating you over the head, "Catellena" is an encouraging demonstration that larger issues can be confronted on the K-pop stage, as long as it is done with a light touch.

The group has had a rocky relationship with members since their debut. They debuted in 2010 with “Let’s Have a Party,” but soon after members Rana, Bini, and Jaekyung graduated from the group. They were replaced by Hyuna, Kyungri and Sungah who completed the group as nine.
Then, earlier this year in January it was announced that Lee Sem and Eunji would be graduating to focus on their personal activities, and adding more fuel to the fire, in June, Sera also left deciding not to renew her contract.
Currently the group stands at six members, Minha, Hyuna, Euaerin, Sungah, Kyungri, and Hyemi. Their agency, Star Empire Entertainment had also recently launched a self produced YouTube series called 9Muses Cast with the 9Muses members in order to show a different side of them to the fans.

BTOB revealed their first set of jacket images last week, followed by their second set released on December 17th, and their third set on December 18th at midnight KST.
The second set features close-up individual shots of each of the seven members, taken in the same setting as the first set. Wearing outfits appropriate for the festive winter season, the boys dress up warmly as they give their mesmerizing stares towards the camera, coupled with the white backdrop which enhances the warm fuzzy feeling.
The third set of jacket photos include three group photos, one as a team, while the other two split into groups of threes and fours. This is the first group image that is being revealed, their full bodies are captured this time round. Fans may notice how familiar this image is, as it is in fact used as the album cover, which only captures the lower parts of their bodies.
While the group photo looks all serious with no smiles, BTOB show their cheekiness when they were split into two teams. The first, comprising Sungjae, Ilhoon, Minhyuk, and Peniel, highlights the fun side of Peniel, looking as though he is making fun of the other 3 who feel single and lonely this Christmas. The second group, consisting ofEunkwang, Hyunsik, and Changsub, chooses to sit in the same sofa as they pose in unison with a shocked face.
The Winter’s Tale is scheduled to be released on December 22nd at midnight KST.
Prior to their comeback, BTOB has teased their fans with an audio highlight video, a tracklist, as well as a music video for their pre-release track “You Can Cry”.

Boys Republic releases the “microscopic” version of their newest music video, “The Real One.”
As opposed to the dance off in a classic scenery for their music video, Boys Republic completely changes their concept in the “microscopic” version of “The Real One.” In the newest version of their music video, the scenery changes into a work office.

The members are carrying on with their daily business until their song, “The Real One” begins to play in the background. In individual shots, the members each evoke laughter by putting on a funny face and searching for the source of the sound. After each scene, the video fades out, eventually leading to the dance and music of the song.

Boys Republic performs their dance while wearing their work clothing and holding on to office supplies. During the course of their dance, the members begin to loosen their uniforms and create a more comfortable atmosphere. They use this in order to show that they want to reveal their true selves and not feel restricted in their work clothes and jobs.

After the boys finish off their dance, they once again bring up more humor by showing the bloopers during their filming.

Sunye has officially confirmed her retirement from the entertainment industry and Wonder Girls, in a new interview with Joongang Ilbo‘s US branch at a non-profit church concert.

In a new interview that has surfaced, Sunye revealed in an exclusive statement, “Return to the entertainment industry? That won’t ever happen!” The article, titled, “The emptiness of popularity, I wish to spend my life resolving myself through the gospel and in Jesus” goes into detail of the artist dedicating her life to missionary work.

In the interview, Sunye reveals that while she has always been religious and has gone to church since she was young, she first discovered her passion and “met Jesus on a deep, personal level” while in New York for their American debut single, “Nobody”.

The artist revealed, “I believed in God ever since I was young when I went to Church with my grandmother, but I hadn’t truly met Jesus on a deep personal level. When I came to U.S.A I had time to myself for the first time since debut and I went to Church every morning for early morning prayer to fill the emptiness in me. This is when I realized that the words in the bible was alive. Even when I reached the top as a singer, I couldn’t fill the emptiness in me, but after I met Christ, my life changed. I realized the “Original Sin” is in living my life for myself and not for Jesus.”

Sunye was discovered in 2001 through SBS “Park Jin Young’s young talent project, the challenge of 99%”. She spent 6 years as a trainee and debuted in 2007 as a member of “Wonder Girls”. Wonder Girls reached the top with “Tell Me ” and “So Hot” and continued their activity in New York in 2009 releasing their American debut single “Nobody”.

In January 2013, while in New York, Sunye tied the knot with James Park, a Canadian born Korean who was a missionary and soon gave birth to a daughter in October that year.
Sunye and James met in Haiti where Sunye left for missionary work for the first time in her life. She revealed, “I went to find and feel God on a deeper level. When I was trying to find reason God sent me to Haiti, I saw my husband volunteering. He was praying for everyone there one by one and when it was my turn I got the feeling that this was a ‘preview of our future’. I didn’t know him personally at all but I felt as if he were my husband.” Sunye gave him a note with her e-mail and proposed first after meeting on a regular basis.

Sunye suprised fans in March stating that she will continue missionary work in Haiti for 5 years revealing, “In Haiti I saw tens of lives go out everyday for the most ridiculous reasons and felt that I had to spread the word of the bible as fast as I could. I think god gave me my talent to save lost souls.”

She continued to say, “I enjoyed my life as a singer but I wish to be loved with in Jesus as a daughter and share that love. I plan to seek what is eternal and spend my life spreading the word of god.”

The news comes as a shock to fans, as JYP Entertainment revealed in a statement that, “Sunye hasn’t left the group, and it is possible that Sunye will come back to Korea for a while during the next five years” when Sunye originally announced her plans of marriage.
In January, the artist also renewed her contract with JYP Entertainment, with a statement from the company confirming her trip to Korea. The agency revealed, “Sunye returned to Korea to see her family and also to deal with the contract renewal with us. Her visit is mainly for her personal matters.”
